KOYAANISQATSI


Koyaanisqatsi (1982) or Life Out of Balance, is a 1982 film directed by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by Philip Glass and cinematography by Ron Fricke. It is a film that is interested in the state of the world, but that intends to shed language in order to explore it. The film's use of slow motion and time-lapse footage of cities and many natural landscapes becomes paramount to breaking the conventions of filmic language and thus creating its own affective tone and distinct perception. This new world-view is at the core of Reggio's experimental work.
