Research is Ceremony: Indigenous Research Method
by Shawn Wilson (2008)
At first quick read, I was struck by the non-Western-traditional form of narration. Wilson begins with his conclusion. The author speaks first and foremost to his tree sons. The title expresses from the get-go, an awareness of sharing knowledge making and listening with what is being studied. Research is Ceremony is a mode of ethics -- am I correct to be reminded of Brian Massumi's definition of belonging, intending to create a sense of embeddedness with my research?
